Homework Assignment 1 (10%) - Common Spatial Data Infrastructure
The QGIS system closely resembles PowerBI, as it visualizes data. In this exercise, four layers have been generated on the map using datasets provided by the Hong Kong Common Spatial Data Infrastructure website (https://portal.csdi.gov.hk/geoportal/).
This thematic map focuses on data related to the elderly in Hong Kong.
It allows us to observe the typical residential locations of the elderly and understand how the Hong Kong government distributes resources such as health clinics, elderly centers, and district elderly community centers across different districts.

Based on the observation of the map, it is evident that elderly centers, clinics, and elderly community centers are well-clustered in Hong Kong.
However, interestingly, there is only one senior citizen card office in the entire Hong Kong. This office provides a universally recognized proof of age to elders, facilitating their access to concessions, discounts, or priority services offered by government departments, public transport, and private and commercial establishments.
The scheme aims to promote a spirit of respect for senior citizens, but elderly individuals residing outside of Hong Kong Island may face challenges reaching this office.
This serves as an illustration of how QGIS contributes to the design of efficient urban spaces, facilitates infrastructure management, and supports sustainable development planning. It is evident that this system is applicable to a diverse range of professionals across various fields, empowering them to make informed decisions.
